Allowing patients to meet their consultant before their consultation.
about the projct
Mr Tristan Barton is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Bath Foot and Ankle Clinic (BFA), the Bath Clinic and Sulis Hospital. His existing profiles already communicated his qualifications, international training and specialist experience. Video offered an opportunity to complement Tristan’s credentials by showing his communication style, approach to care and what meeting him for the first time might feel like.
We designed a 90-second film to feel like a prospective patient’s first meeting with Tristan, rather than a formal presentation. He discussed his experience, work training junior surgeons, range of patients and approach to care, while observational footage of Tristan in a clinical setting showed that approach in practice.
This combined brought his clinical experience, communication style and approach to care into one concise profile, and established a repeatable approach that private hospitals and specialist clinics could apply across consultant teams, helping patients and referrers understand both what each clinician has achieved, and what meeting them might feel like.
