The gut health market is full of promising products, but in a category filled with similar-sounding claims, probiotic innovation is difficult to distinguish.
University of Bristol spinout Ferryx had launched Ferrocalm, a consumer probiotic developed from decades of research into gut health and intestinal inflammation.
Built around Ferryx’s proprietary bacterial strain, FX856, Ferrocalm was designed to remain effective during periods of gut inflammation, when many conventional probiotics struggle. The communication challenge was to make that difference clear to consumers while building confidence in the research and the people behind it.
Working alongside Ferryx’s external marketing team, we translated the wider launch strategy into two founder-led films. We worked together to keep interviews scientifically accurate, naturally delivered and aligned with the wider campaign.
Rather than separating the human story from the scientific one, the films were structured so that the perspectives of the founders (Jenny and Tristan) reinforced each other. Jenny connected the research to lived experience and the journey of bringing Ferrocalm to market, while Tristan explained where the science came from and why it was different.
Together, the films gave Ferryx two distinct communication tools for the launch: one that made the product’s scientific difference accessible to consumers, and another that placed Ferrocalm within the wider story of the company, its research and its journey from university spinout to consumer-health company.
